Closing of the Serbia on PQ 07 exhibition |
USA Performance Descriptions:
Jelly Fish: A puppet based dance piece (set to music by Mark Mothersbaugh and Sven Libek) about the joy of creating something beautiful using both high and low tech materials- from digitally produced video, to plastic hula hoop toys.
Rapunzel: A multi-media performance depicting a nightmare crossing the border into reality. Inspired by Anne Sexton's "Rapunzel."
Catharsis: Mysterious movement, fabric and light, who will stay and who will emerge?
Beauty Bound: I am bound for beauty, entangled in my own web of "quick fixes." To be "Beautiful", what does that mean? Entrapped in a culture of facades, in an age of drive-up cosmetic surgery, eat 'n' purge relief, the gastric bypass, drowning. When self-mutilation turns from cutting oneself to doctors cutting on you, all with the hope to fit comfortably in the body that binds us. This is the mentality of the Beauty Bound.
Safe: Smaller than a dot the world is who we are, when the blood gets spilled there is no return, these are the games that carry a message in performance, and consequences in the life. A masquerade or a life is a circle that only people can stop or play along with it.
Instructional: Mirrors and reflections, what is where, what is inside, on the other side, outside. Are you here or there? (A guided tour with answers)
Dutch National Theme: “The soul of the designer – source of inspiration”
The day’s programme is as follows:
11:00 –12:00
A live interview with the designer of the day – this will be a live interview, conducted by our master of ceremony, followed by presentation of some of the designer’s work and the designer would be there to talk to interested visitors.
14:00 – 15:00
A presentation of the ‘designer of the day’ theme. (Each designer was allocated one day for which they have prepared a theme, which links his/her work to the designer’s soul and source of inspiration.
16:00-18:00
A Round -Table discussion about the day’s Theme. We would invite foreign colleagues to participate in the discussions.
All these activities will be in the various spaces we have created within our National space in the Left wing.
